Inexorable Sponge
Mark wandered closer to the inexorable sponge, eying it cautiously. It was, after all, inexorable. At the same time, it was clearly a sponge, and it was this fact that was giving his mind fits. A this point, Mark realized that no matter how circumspectly he went about it, he couldn't draw any nearer to the sponge. This made it all the more inexorable to him, and he nodded towards it approvingly. The sponge sat there, smugly inexorable, ineffably smug, and soaked in the approval. Mark decided to feign disinterest and started to walk away, but stopped suddenly when he realized that he couldn't get further away from the sponge, either. Evidently the sponge had taken an interest in him. Mark didn't know what to do with this information, and decided that, in the interim, it would make him nervous. Inexorable sponges do not award their interest without good reason, however high and ineffable that reason may be. Mark stared warily at the sponge. The sponge somehow managed to return the stare without possessing eyes, and Mark promptly lost his nerve and attempted to flee. The inexorable sponge remained inexorably behind him, staying at a constant distance until Mark ran suddenly into a light pole, having mis-prioritized the frequency of his backward glances. At this point, the sponge drew closer, while simultaneously appearing not to move. The small part of Mark's mind that was still calm thought to itself that it was interesting how ineffable the sponges movement was. The majority of his mind was dedicated to screaming incoherently. As the sponge passed him by, he could feel it communicating ineffably to him, and he understood it to say "You should really pay more attention to where you are going." And then it disappeared as inexorably as it had arrived.

No matter how bad finals are, there's absolutely no way this is the inexorable side effect...
You're probably right. It was a lot of fun to write, though.
