In the Outer Colonies, it was said that A Man Could Be Free. This was somewhat misleading, as the saying neglected to mention what a man could be free
from. To the newcomer, it mostly meant that a man could be free from his wallet and other belongings. For the locals, it meant that a man could be free from all those pesky rules and regulations that governed the Core Worlds. And for Malcolm Weston, it meant that a man could be freed from his past, a notion he found very inviting.

For what? Abens told me it sounded like Firefly, which is completely not where this is going. I didn't see the resemblances until he pointed them out, actually.
